At Berger Family Dental, we believe dental sealants are a valuable preventative treatment option for many of our patients. Dental sealants are an extremely effective method for preventing tooth decay and are very simple to apply.
What is dental sealant?
Dental sealants are slightly filled resin material that is painted onto teeth and then hardens to create a protective barrier to prevent decay. Sealants are a simple and effective preventative dental service.
What is the procedure for applying dental sealant?
Our exceptional hygiene team will first clean your teeth and perform a thorough examination. First, the tooth will be cleaned and dried. A solution that will partially roughen the surface will be applied which will allow the sealing material to adhere better. The tooth will be rinsed and dried again. Finally, the sealant is painted on the tooth in liquid form and hardens in about 30 seconds.
Who is a good candidate for dental sealants?
Children are typically the most common patient group to receive sealants, but patients of any age can benefit.
