Living with missing teeth can be uncomfortable and even embarrassing. When you lose a tooth your smile isn’t the only thing that suffers. Chewing your favorite foods, and even speaking can become awkward. Luckily, nowadays, there are many different teeth replacement options for you to consider.
Whether you’ve lost your teeth due to trauma, disease, decay, gum disease, or any other reason, it is important to seek a replacement option as soon as possible. Traditionally, dentures were the most common solution for teeth replacement. These devices were known to move and shift in patients’ mouths. We offer implant supported dentures at our office which provide our patients with improved fit and function.
Dr. Berger will use the most effective techniques and materials to attach dentures to permanent implants and give you a more confident fit. A metal base or post is inserted into the gum so the implant denture can be secured to it. There are different options when it comes to implant dentures—removable and fixed dental implants.
What are fixed implant dentures?
Patients who need a complete set of dentures, but do not want to remove them, can choose non-removable, or fixed, implant dentures. Fixed implant dentures make it comfortable and easy to carry out everyday tasks, such as eating and talking, without worrying about dentures moving or slipping out.
What are the benefits of fixed implant dentures?
- Can bite, chew and talk without worrying about your dentures falling out
- Can be cleaned the same way as your normal teeth
- Provide increased self-confidence and freedom to smile
What are removable implant dentures?
With removable implant dentures, there are two options; implant retained overdentures and implant-supported overdentures.
Implant retained overdentures include two or more implants. They offer more support and can improve chewing. Whereas an implant supported overdenture is a full denture which is reinforced by a number of dental implants. It is used when patients have no teeth in the jaw but have enough bone to support implants.
What are the benefits of removable implant dentures?
- Superior fit
- Better oral hygiene
- Less expensive
- Can easily be repaired or replaced
